Diagrams Sketched on the Wind: An Show of Visible Art & Poetry in Discussion will open on Friday, March 5, from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. at Tioga Arts Council’s gallery located at 179 Entrance St. in Owego.
Ekphrastic poetry describes visual art it is a follow in Western lifestyle at least as outdated as Homer’s description of Achilles’ shield in the Iliad. The dialogue concerning poets and visible artists has led to some of our best artwork.
In the tradition of ekphrasis, this show and chapbook assemble visual work developed in and all around Tioga County and pairs it with poetic responses to that operate. The poets represented herein appear from the southern tier of New York and from Washington, Virginia, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Alabama, and Manhattan. Every single poet ways the visual artwork they are engaging from a different angle. There are 11 artists and 10 poets featured in this exhibition.
The exhibition will open in the course of Owego To start with Friday, but there will be no official reception. All visitors are demanded to wear masks and notice social distancing while in the gallery. Groups of 4 or far more are inspired to make an appointment before browsing. Following the opening, the exhibition will operate from March 6 – 27, 2021, Tuesday by means of Saturday, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. in Owego.
