Marinette County approves funds to support City of Marinette Airboat after reconsideration

Last thirty day period the Marinette County Board of supervisors permitted contributing $43,900 to the City of Marinette in the direction of the obtain of a new 24 ft lookup and rescue airboat with the caveat that the county be capable to use the airboat. Nevertheless, at yesterday’s County Board meeting a motion was brought forth by Supervisor Allen to rethink motion taken by the County board to transfer the $43,900 to the Town of Marinette for obtain of the Airboat. Considering the fact that the Metropolis of Marinette has not long ago allocated $500 for every worker for COVID-19 vaccinations using ARPA resources when they could have employed their ARPA funds towards the funding of the airboat rather of inquiring the County for funding. County Administrator John Lefebvre states, “the Metropolis of Marinette received $1.1 million in ARPA funding.”

Supervisor Ken Keller says, “there is a motive why the metropolis is searching for participation in the obtaining of the airboat.”

Following a prolonged dialogue, the board voted, and it arrived in at 14 in favor of the airboat to 13 not in favor.  The expected supply day of the airboat is mid-January.
