Artwork by learners in the Art and Layout program, housed in the Faculty of Carrying out
and Visual Arts at The University of Southern Mississippi (USM), will be on exhibit
for its 2022 Once-a-year Juried Student Show, from March 23 via April 8 on the Hattiesburg
Campus. An awards ceremony will be held March 24 at 6 p.m.
The Exhibition was juried by Anthony (Tony) DiFatta, Director of Instruction at Walter
Anderson Museum in Ocean Springs Christian Bailey, potter, sculptor, and art instructor
at Harrison Central Higher University and Zach Blessing, graphic designer and Vice President
of American Marketing Federation of Pensacola.
DiFatta, USM alum and juror, says he has judged many artwork competitions from young children
to professional artists.
“I’m normally stunned with the perform I see from the learners at USM and stop by the gallery
and studios any time I’m in city,” stated DiFatta. “Some of the items in this demonstrate
are more powerful than most specialist artwork that I’ve judged.”
DiFatta said that the function exhibited by USM students make it distinct that art instructors
