Visual Arts Center of New Jersey to Host Radical LeWitt - a Virtual Discussion on Sol LeWitt

(SUMMIT, NJ) —  On Friday, December 4 at 1:00pm, the Visible Arts Heart of New Jersey (VACNJ) will host Radical LeWitt, a virtual dialogue on the function of artist Sol LeWitt. Encouraged by the modern publication of Sol LeWitt: Not to Be Marketed for More Than $100, Two of the book’s contributors—Jason Rulnick and Veronica Roberts—will investigate the radical character of the artist’s perform.

The guide, published by Radius Textbooks, presents a minimal-recognized body of drawings LeWitt built by folding and tearing paper. The artist referred to these performs as the “R” drawings (for rip) and also as “hundred-greenback drawings,” given that he required them to be offered for no more than $100. Arguably LeWitt’s most radical is effective on paper, Rulnick and Roberts will discuss their context and affect in a greater practice, rooted in rethinking what art could be.

In 2013 he arranged the exhibition, Sol LeWitt: Reduce Torn Folded Ripped at James Cohan Gallery in New York. 

Veronica Roberts is curator of present day and up to date artwork at the Blanton Museum of Art at The University of Texas at Austin. Formerly, she served as Director of Analysis for the Sol LeWitt Wall Drawings Catalogue Raisonneì and in curatorial positions at the Indianapolis Museum of Artwork, Museum of Contemporary Art, and Whitney Museum of American Artwork. She curated the 2014 exhibition Converging Strains: Eva Hesse and Sol LeWitt.  

Lindsay Aveilhé is a New York-based independent curator and editor of the Sol LeWitt Wall Drawings Catalogue Raisonné and co-editor of Sol LeWitt Full Writings and Sol LeWitt Interviews. Aveilhé usually serves as a panelist and lecturer on the matter of Conceptual artwork, artist guides, and the operate of Sol LeWitt.
